Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s comment on the success of RRR-KGF 2, asked- Where is the real cinema?

These days South films are dominated in cinemas. From SS Rajamouli’s RRR to Yash’s KGF Chapter 2, she is rocking the box office. These films are being liked by the audience of the country and abroad. But it seems that Nawazuddin Siddiqui has not liked these films much. In his new interview, Nawazuddin has taken a jibe at the recently released big budget films.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui says that these films give a feeling of shock and appreciation. These are all visual experiences, but where is the real cinema in this. He also said that he feels that films still show shallow things and that has not changed. He also thought about the fact that now big budget films are getting a place in theatres. In such a situation, will small budget films be able to make a place in theatres?

In an interview to Bollywood Hungama, Nawazuddin Siddiqui was asked if the concept of the main lead in commercial cinema is changing. He answered no to this question. Nawaz says, “I don’t think it is changing. I also played the lead role in Manto. But how many people came to see that film? I thought that after two years of pandemic, people must have seen even world cinema and there must have been a change. But the kind of picture that is becoming a hit right now, it seems advisable to take oil. Entertain here and entertain people at the superficial level.

Nawazuddin said that it is now difficult to release good and moderate small budget films in theatres. The reason for this is the introduction of big budget films in the theatres. Nawazuddin said, “Such films glittering and create great sense of appreciation among the audience. In these the plane moves in the water and the fish fly. It’s the visual experiences that I love to watch as well. But where is the cinema? When you watch films like CODA and King Richard on OTT, you feel that thank God good films are also being made. OTT has saved us. I think children like such shocking movies. Young mind is progressive. We should have been progressive after two years. But unfortunately it didn’t happen.”
